A lecture and Q&A with author and scholar Dara Horn, who will discuss how the partisan discussions of free speech and criticism of Israel have obscured the monumental failures of schools and universities in addressing contemporary antisemitism. Professor Horn  will explore the assumptions behind today鈥檚 attitudes and their appeal to educated people, and chart a different path forward for a pluralistic society. Dara Horn is a scholar of Yiddish literature and the award-winning author of five novels and People Love Dead Jews, a recent collection of essays about the complexities of antisemitism. Horn is the award-winning author of six books, including the novels In the Image, The World to Come, All Other Nights, A Guide for the Perplexed, and Eternal Life. One of Granta magazine鈥檚 Best Young American Novelists, she is the recipient of two National Jewish Book Awards, the Edward Lewis Wallant Award, the Harold U. Ribalow Award, and the Reform Judaism Fiction Prize. Horn received her doctorate in Yiddish and Hebrew literature from Harvard University. She has taught courses in these subjects at Sarah Lawrence College and Yeshiva University, and has held the Gerald Weinstock Visiting Professorship in Jewish Studies at Harvard.
