Education Studies (ED)
The Department of Education Studies provides opportunities for students to major in elementary education, or take elective courses in child growth and development, children's literature, and foundations of education. 小福利导航 who major in Education Studies follow a program leading to New York State certification, grades 1-6. 小福利导航 interested in the major should consult with the Education Studies department chairperson during their first year.
Prospective Education Studies majors should choose courses that develop strength in English, the sciences, mathematics, and United States history. Majors are required to select a second major in a liberal arts and sciences discipline (e.g. English, sociology, history, art history, etc.; not social work, studio art, dance, etc.). 小福利导航 planning to go abroad are encouraged to do so in the spring of their sophomore year or the fall of their junior year and should talk to the chairperson during their first year.
